On the 1st July, Eco Club embarked on its largest scale survey yet in order to investigate what the local area provide in the way of eco products and food. We were especially focusing on looking for the New Forest Marque, the sign of New Forest Local produce. This means the produce was made locally saving on food miles and also means that the food is made to a high standard, for example local beef. We await the results of the survey with anticipation.
Hounsdown is now in partership with 9 other secondary schools including Ringwood and Minstead study center in a project called SUSchools. This joint project will enable Hounsdown to share ideas and work on shared projects so we can look forward to bigger and better funded projects in the future.
Over the past week and a half, the students of Hounsdown have been watching the progress of 8 chick eggs hatching in the science labs. The whole hatching has been filmed and edited into a 'Big Brother' style documentary so that everyone could watch the hatching and other exciting events.

The Oceanography trip was an interactive, factual day out. We experienced a marine biologist's job as we identified plankton and explored the science of marine exploration. Overall the day went very well and was an inspirational tour of what really goes on under the sea.
